Learning Chinese: Unit 9 vocabulary

To practice memorizing the vocabulary in writing, make a list of the vocabulary in Chinese characters only, then try to recall the pinyin and the English. Repeat until you make no mistakes. Then do the same exercise, but the other way around, that is, writing the list in English and recalling the characters and the pinyin.

年 nián: year

今年 jīnnián: this year

去年 qùnián: last year

明年 míngnián: next year

月 yuè: month / moon

日 rì: day (date) / sun

号 hào: number / day of the month (spoken)

天 tiān: day (duration) / sky

时候 shíhou: moment

看 kàn: to look, to see

读 dú: to read

读书 dúshū: to study (lit. "to read books")

去 qù: to go, to leave

来 lái: to come

回 huí: to return, to come back
