Learn Chinese: vocabulary Unit 7

To practice memorizing the vocabulary in writing, make a list of the vocabulary in Chinese characters only, then try to recall the pinyin and the English. Repeat until you make no mistakes. Then do the same exercise, but the other way round, that is, by writing the list in English and recalling the characters and the pinyin.

Nouns

东西 dōngxi: thing, object

手机 shǒujī: mobile phone

书 shū: book

衣服 yīfu: clothing

Demonstrative / locative pronouns

这 zhè: this

这个 zhège: this one

这儿 zhèr: here

这些 zhèxiē: these (near)

那 nà: that (far)

那个 nàge: that one

那儿 nàr: over there

那些 nàxiē: those (far)

Interrogative pronouns

哪个 nǎge: which one?

哪些 nǎxiē: which ones?

Indefinite pronouns

有的 yǒude: some (from a set already known)

有些 yǒuxiē: some, a few (there are…)

Classifiers & quantifiers

本 běn: classifier for books

件 jiàn: classifier for clothing and belongings

些 xiē: a few (always combined)

一些 yìxiē: a few, a little

Adverbs

还 hái: still, in addition
