Learning Chinese: vocabulary of Unit 1

Methodology

To practice memorizing the vocabulary in writing, make a list of the vocabulary in Chinese characters only, then try to recall the pinyin and the English. Repeat until you make no mistakes. Then do the same exercise the other way round, i.e. writing the list in English and recalling the characters and the pinyin.

我 wǒ: I, me

你 nǐ: you

好 hǎo: good, well, to be well

很 hěn: very

也 yě: also, too

Modal particle

吗 ma: interrogative particle

Expressions

你好 nǐhǎo: hello

谢谢 xièxie: thank you

不客气 bú kèqi: you're welcome, don't mention it

再见 zàijiàn: goodbye
