The Great Wall: Simatai

司马台 Sī mǎ tái

Simatai is 110km northeast of the capital. The Great Wall has not been completely restored and visitors can find the most authentic aspect of the Great Wall as the walls-barriers designed to stop the enemies who would already have reached the walkway. The place is still very wild. Do not forget to take water and a picnic. you should also be a good walker because the place is very steep. You can reach Jinshanling by walk in four hours but you must be a good walker for certain passage which are very delicate.

From the bus station Dongzhimen take a minibus, but if you are many, it may be worthwhile to rent a car or take a taxi.
