Badaling

八达岭 Bādálǐng

It is a place pretty close to Beijing, about 70 km north-west and 1000 meters above sea level. The section was restored in 1957 in order to make the walls and watchtowers looks identical to that the Ming period. The place is easy to drive with a cable. By cons, if you love peace and quiet, this is not the best place. However, the view remains wonderful and this is the perfect place to make beautiful pictures.

Most hotels offering tours but we must beware of this price and make many comparisons. The cheapest way is the bus number 919 which leaves Deshengmen (which can be reached by bus number 44 which starts south of Tiananmen Square), next to Jishuitan subway station. The trip takes about 1:30. Departures are every 15 minutes from 5:30. Conversely, the last minibus leaves Badaling at 18:30. Otherwise large tour buses depart from the southwest corner of Tiananmen Square.
