Grids used in Chinese calligraphy

Here are the different grid models used in Chinese calligraphy:

The nine palaces grid

The grid of the palace Hui, consisting of a rectangle into a square evoking the form of the Chinese character Hui. The vertical edges of the rectangle inside is equal to 0.76 times of the square outside. The horizontal edge is equal to 0.47 times of the square. It is a very good model which allows a comprehensive view of the character. It has been observed that the characters traced by students who used this model were very well balanced.
