Horizontal Strokes in Chinese Calligraphy

Here are the different horizontal strokes in the Liu style. For each stroke, an example of a Chinese character is provided. Each stroke of each character is numbered according to the stroke order of the character. The number is placed at the beginning of the stroke.

Example: stroke no. 7:

Liáng: (n.) beam / surname

Example: stroke no. 1:

Yòu: (adj.) right

Example: stroke no. 3:

Yǔ: (n.) the universe

Example: stroke no. 1:

Zhèng: (n.) rectitude

Example: strokes no. 13, 14, and 16:

Diāo: (n.) Eagle
